Stock Your Fallout Shelters…It’s The Political Season Again!!!

You can tell without looking that an election, both national and local, is on the horizon!  All the politicos, real players and wannabe’s, are searching for an open microphone or available tabloid…There is not a better political system in the world, and what we have seems so archaic and mundane.  We have gotta find a better way!  Too many “weasels” sneak into the picture in a “game” meant only for the rugged.  The promises are always the same…the rhetoric predictable….the candidates smiling faces unchanged.  The Republicans have begun their ambushing of Democratic policies….while the Democrats have loaded their guns and stocked their shelves with the same old, same old “save mankind” crap.  If you could “change the face” of America’s political playground what would you do and how would you do it?

  1. I feel that celebrities play an extremely inflated role in American politics, and make a spectacle of our political system. People like Lady GaGa have no idea what the repurcusions of ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ would have on the military. Oprah’s HUGE endorsement of Obama surely had an impact on his campaign and election. Many people who had no idea what they were voting for went out and voted for him expecting big changes, people who hadn’t bothered to vote in mid-term Congressional and Senate elections, and people who have never bothered to vote at all. All these people knew was that Obama was heavily endorsed by celebrities and was the ‘next big thing.’ Now everyone is disappointed because nothing is passing through the Senate, and blaming it on Obama when it’s all in our system of checks and balances. People need to be more educated about what they are voting about, and who they are voting for. If a celebrity endorses a particular candidate, that’s a sure sign that people need to do their own research.

    • You are right on the money with your comments, Allison….It is so sad that our one great political system is being corroded by Hollywood wannabe’s and self proclaimed know it all’s….we have turned the corner onto a very ugly street. I don’t like what I see at “the end of the tunnel…”

  2. This country is not being influenced by celebrity status. Look at former president George W. Bush. See his stellar academic record? See his brilliant buisness career? See his admirable military contribution? See how he has been a pillar of our society? How could one even think that the celebrity status of being a former presidents son influenced his elections? What did his ties with the Bin Laden family have to do with anything? But really, how much did anyone even care about any of those things prior to his elections? People need to rely on good journalism to formulate their decisions on presidential hopefuls, instead they get veils where transparency should be and propoganda where information should be. Unless these factors change most people are left to unfounded optimism and the fact that they can relate to someone as the basis for their vote. Perhaps good indepent journalism can provide more objective information concerning the history of presidential hopefuls so we could have the proper information on which to base a sound decision. Which independent journalists can we trust? It’s a bit difficult for most of us to sort through it in the period preceeding elections. Only after the elections do some of the rest of the stories begin to creep out, by then most folks prefer to ignore it, afterall it is too late. Until there is transparency in the lives of presidential hopefuls we have little else to base our decision making process on other than hopeful meanderings. I do not predict a change in celebrity influence of our political system any time soon. In conclusion, it is not so much about what I can change in other people as it is about what I can change in myself. Only God can affect real positive change. I pray for his help for change, change for myself, change for those I know, change for our country, and change for this world. Left solely to the devices of man we are all utterly lost.

    • We are all entitled to feel the way we feel! We still have that RIGHT in an America turning LEFT. Whether you live in Montana or D.C.—–we are Americans with a right to our feelings, words and, most of all, our right to vote! We need more Americans voting…and, not influenced by Rush Limbaugh or Bill Riley or Lady Gaga….! Amen.

  3. Amen.

  4. The Doomsayers will have you believing in misery that sells the propaganda just like Hitler did with Jews in WWII. I believe in finding a solution not creating a scare tactic. Living in fear is for the weak minded that listen to this garbage that you are creating. Come up with a solution. Don’t fear the reaper.!! Shame on you.!!

    • you might be right, Arthur, then again, most likely wrong! You seem to be one of those who throws “caca” at the wall and hopes some of it sticks…if we built our future on a base contrived by those of you who think “your way,” we’d collapse like a house of cards….! touche, my friend, touche!!!
